Mr. Robert Bresnahan

Mr. Robert Bresnahan

President and CEO

Trilateral

Trilateral's market expertise stems from its founding president and CEO, Bob Bresnahan, recognized and respected throughout the food manufacturing industry for his integrity, objective methodology, consistently insightful analysis and confidence to make specific pricing and hedging recommendations. Bob spent the first 11 years of his career in the trading pits of the Chicago Board of Trade, the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, the New York Commodity Exchange, the New York Mercantile Exchange, and the New York Futures Exchange to diversify his trading opportunities and skills.

He left the trading pits in 1986 to focus on building Trilateral's services in managing purchasing and risk management transactions –including supplier negotiations, pricing, hedging, and administrative management– for companies whose operating margins are highly sensitive to commodity, ingredient and energy input costs.

Bob refers to himself as "purely a technical trader." And while his technical analysis expertise is an indisputable competitive advantage, Bob is also an ardent fundamental analyst; particularly in the context of monitoring the dynamics of how the market is "determining value."

At heart, however, Bob remains a devotee of Elliott Wave analysis to assess market psychology.

Overlaying traditional Elliott Wave analysis with a proprietary study called the Market Map Momentum Oscillator and Fibonacci ratios, Bob has a long record of projecting and recommending optimal entry and exit points for his customers.

A primary benefit of Bob's approach is it allows buyers and traders to project, with a confident level of probability, what the market is going to do as opposed to reacting to what the market has done. By determining where the current market is within an Elliott Wave pattern, Bob is able to objectively assess the relative probabilities of possible future price paths for the market.

The chief limitation to Elliott Wave analysis, Bob says, is the long time required to learn and gain experience in applying the precise and very intricate rules. This is why Bob's experience translates into the value upon which his customers have come to expect - his confidence to make specific pricing and hedging recommendations.

Bob's best piece of advice: "Develop an objective system and stick with it. Do not subjectively deviate from the system."

Summary of the talk “The fleet, present and future”:

The presentation will focus on the recent evolution of the shipping market. The recovery in the Dry Bulk sector that we are now experiencing is very much the result of a fundamental supply-side rebalancing in the market.

The severely depressed market of 2016 limited the pace of vessel contracting in that year and much of 2017, the results of which produced a very limited orderbook for 2018. Therefore, the supply side of the equation is very unthreatening. In addition to a manageable delivery schedule, we are forecasting positive growth in the iron ore and coal sectors.

The grains market appears slightly more subdued, but historically still quite strong. More generally, we hold a positive view of 2018, with demand outpacing supply. His goal, despite the bullish outlook, will be to outline some of the dangers to market and why we should be aware of its limitations.
